New York – August 18, 2013 – Miss Bartika Rai, from New York was crowned Miss Nepal US 2013 at the grand finale of the Voyage to Shangrila 3rd Miss Nepal US beauty pageant held at Queens Theater in New York on August 17, 2013. Along with the title of Miss Nepal US 2013, Bartika won a $5,000 scholarship to continue her education from Namgel Lama (Lama Accounting), New York. The first runner-up was Miss Anuja Thapa Magar from California who earned a $3000 scholarship from Dr. Binod & Sujita Shah (Jackson Heights Medical) and Gift Hamper from DTNY by Sweety. Similarly, Second runner-up honors and a $2000 scholarship from Yam Adhikari Partners of New York Life Insurance were awarded to Miss Sony Pathak from Austin, Texas.

The grand finale show was judged by famous personalities like Mrs. Kiran Chetry- former CNN Goodmorning America host & famous TV personality, Dr. Pasang Sherpa – Anthropologist, Milan Thapa Magar Poudel- First batch Runway Model of Nepal, Sujita Basnet- Miss Nepal US 2011 Title holder, Rajendra Shrestha- Founder & CEO of Voyage to Shangri-la, Stephanie Chemick, Miss New York US 2013, Sherry Onna, Project advisor with Dance Theater of Nepal in New York, Nawal Yadav, Auditor of United Nations Headquarters NY, and Tenzing Ukyab, Interim President of Himalayan Buddhist Community. USA. Further, the title and subtitles announcement was done public directly after jury scores calculation by New York State Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Biraj Rijal under direct supervisor of New York State Certified Attorney, Bashu Phulara.
Opening with live musical performance by Phiroj Shyangden from 1974 A.D Band, Rajendra Lal Karn & Prajawal Bajracharya, the Grand Finale of Miss Nepal US 2013 event also had attractions like International Designer Nikita Verma showcasing her fashion collection through a fashion show with American Models, Dance performance by STS, Exclusive Magic with dance performance by Dharambir Lama, Dance Performance by Basanti Rai & Alisan Lama & a song by Pabita Bagchand.
After 8 days long training and workshop by Miss Nepal 2002 and well know media personality -Malvika Subba as well as American Run Way Model- Maytee Martinez, 16 finalists represented from New York, Texas, Oregon, California, Massachusetts, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Virginia selected through audition competed for crown in Voyage to Shangri-la 3rd Miss Nepal US organized by Event Planet Inc, with support of E Planet Pvt. Ltd, Nepal and Elucid NY Magazine. Voyage to Shangri-la 3rd Miss Nepal US official fashion designer and well know Nepali Fashion Designer- Bishwo Gautam exclusive evening gown design for all finalists and their performance was the one of the most attractive parts of the event.
Voyage to Shangri-la 3rd Miss Nepal US event was also endorsed by Embassy of Nepal USA, Nepal Tourism Board & New York State Governor- Andrew M. Cuomo. The grand finale night of the 2013 Miss Nepal US Pageant was broadcasted live from New York on White Himal TV.
