After the grand success of Miss Nepal USA 2011- Event Planet Inc., proudly announced the organization of MISS NEPAL US 2012 to be held in Washington DC on August11, 2012. With the motto of ‘Empowering Youths- Promoting Nepal’, Miss Nepal US (AKA Miss Nepal USA) pageant strives to promote cultural diversity through the medium of pageantry. The President/CEO of Event Planet Inc., and Founder of Miss Nepal USA 2011, Mr. Amit Shah also officially announced the core team members for the 2012 pageant. The team includes Sarad Bikram Singh, Sarah Gurung, Pratik Subedi, Bikrant Man Shrestha, Arjun Subedi, Anoj Jung Thapa, Anil Shah, Sangya Singh, Kripal Pant, DJ Dinesh Gurung, Nishant Ranjit, Ang Kami Sherpa, Sambhu Muktan, Jolly Amatya, Bharat Baraili, Sailes Shrestha, Krishna Neupane (Jackson), and Prashant Rajbhandari.
Mr. Shah, on behalf of the organizers, informed the media about the change in title of Miss Nepal USA to Miss Nepal US for this year. When approached the United States Patent and Trademark Office last year to register the title Miss Nepal USA, the Miss Universe Organization objected to the name as they felt that as Miss USA is their registered trademark using any combination of Miss USA will be confusing and misleading to their concerned stakeholders. Although this is an organizational opinion, we will wait for the final verdict from United States Patent and Trademark Office which can take 6 to 18 months to take the decision. Meanwhile based on the advice from our legal team we have decided to change the title as Miss Nepal US (AKA Miss Nepal USA) until we hear from United States Patent and Trademark Office on our application. Mr. Shah further added that in light of the no-objection by the Miss Universe Organization they have also initiated the trade mark application for the use of Miss Nepal US title as well.
The announcement ceremony of Miss Nepal US 2012 held on Western Plus Hotel, MD was hosted by Jolly Amatya. Miss Nepal USA 2011 Sujita Basnet, 1st Runner Up Tilasmi Bista, 2nd Runner Up Nabina Basnet who will also be official brand ambassadors for upcoming Miss Nepal US 2012 were also present. Hundreds of distinguished community leaders/members and other respected guests led by Honorary Council General of Nepal Embassy to USA- Prem Raja Mahat, met and shared their ideas to make this event a grand success. The program began with the official promo video of Miss Nepal US 2012 and ended with the video of achievements by Sujita Basnet after winning the title Miss Nepal USA 2011. During the ceremony, the winner of Logo Competition was also announced. Sarobar Kasajoo, who currently lives in MN, won the Miss Nepal USA 2012 Logo Competition. We would like to congratulate him.
